Just ran this with the whole family… that means the time is finally here, drum roll please… TRAINING SEASON!!!! Time to break in some new running shoes and start heavily training for may and fall marathons. We’re thinking about running Traverse City or Cleveland for May but don’t have many front runners yet for fall. Ideas? What are your favorite midwest marathons to run?
Great idea for a way to recycle some old milk crates. The ones I currently have are being used to hold books in my tiny library, but I might have to go out and get some more….
I have an old bed set complete with a huge dresser, two end tables, and a sleigh bed and it’s made of gorgeous wood, but I’m bored of it. I feel guilty painting it because I’m positive my parents spent a great deal of money on it when I was younger, but honestly, they paid for it so I’d be happy with it and I no longer am. SO I’m thinking of painting it/ antiquing it similar to this. I’m hoping that when we take it all to our new place in a year or so, It will give the guest room a cottage-y, warm, homey feeling. Thoughts or personal projects?
I think my family needs to make this christmas tree..
It’s snowing outside!! Finally!!!! So happy to have snow to run in! It looks like Christmas came early. However, I think I’m going to have to throw on my spandex pants instead of these shorts..
It’s pouring here, and if you’re not like me and already ran this morning, then you might need another cardio/toning outlet. This is one of my favorite workouts. It’s a fusion workout that combines kick boxing, yoga, and pilates. You’ll burn lots of calories, sweat like crazy, and be asking for more. If you like this one, I follow all of this girl’s workouts on youtube at Dulcinea Hellings or BootcampMC
I usually don’t repost long threads like this but I think this is really important. I didn’t know this was an option.
I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.
I really didn’t know that tumblr did this, but that’s pretty amazing.
I will say this right now.
Someone has done this on my behalf. It alerts Tumblr staff, and they will personally message you and give you help.
This isn’t just a “oh signal boost for the sake of signal boosting.” It does do something and it will have an effect.
Important and very worth reblogging.
Wow. That is awesome.
This? This is important information, and should be reblogged.
After a long run in the rain last night, as well as a brief talk with my Dad this morning, I think I found my run-spiration again. I was stressed all week and I couldn’t find an outlet, but after a long run, pounding out my frustrations in the rain, I found myself in a state of nirvana when I got home. It truly is free therapy, of course aside from the price of shoes, clothes, and registration fees. A good hour of nothing but my legs moving against pouring rain completely clears my mind. The true test however was today… Do I get myself to run two days in a row despite being tired, sore, and busy? After hearing my dad’s voice on the phone I got the push I needed. We didn’t even talk about running but I regained the initial reason I started in the first place; to be a stronger healthier me, to push myself, and to be closer to my family. We’ve run all of our marathons and half marathons together thus far and it’s one thing that will always tie us together.
What gets you through a tough running rutt?
